actually, i would say the initial comments aren't from "tree-huggers" they're just from the under-educated. these computers are novelty items, not mass-marketed plastic so they can stop whining. also, overpopulation doesn't mean we fill every square inch of the planet, it means we don't have enough resources to sustain the population we do have, which can be concentrated in one big city and still be considered overpopulated. and that's likely. also, trees aren't a renewable resource ONLY because we use them faster than we can grow them. same with fossil fuels. sure, they'll be some more in 3 million years when we've all decayed but that doesn't do us any good does it? either take an environmental science class or stop pretending you know what you're talking about.

I would rather have a great piece of craftsmanship that is biodegradeable than a piece of plastic that will sit in a landfill for thousands of years. We can plant more trees. The more we learn to use our natural resources the better off we will be in the long run.

actually, i would say the initial comments aren't from "tree-huggers" they're just from the under-educated. these computers are novelty items, not mass-marketed plastic so they can stop whining. also, overpopulation doesn't mean we fill every square inch of the planet, it means we don't have enough resources to sustain the population we do have, which can be concentrated in one big city and still be considered overpopulated. and that's likely. also, trees aren't a renewable resource ONLY because we use them faster than we can grow them. same with fossil fuels. sure, they'll be some more in 3 million years when we've all decayed but that doesn't do us any good does it? either take an environmental science class or stop pretending you know what you're talking about.

Overpopulation isn't a problem in developed countries it's a problem in underdeveloped countries, in most of Europe and USA/Canada the population is already going down because wealthy people don't have as many children. As such the answer to the problem isn't as so many people seem to think going backwards but going forward faster.
Using renewable resources such as wood, rather than cheep plastic is one of those things. Believe me when I say that clear cutting forests is a thing of the past. Even if they wanted to, which most don't, logging companies can't get contracts to cut down trees without agreeing to plant more.
